Dance List 23
July 6-Aug. 2
Dear readers,
I last wrote to you at the end of March, thinking I’d be away for a month. Turns out I needed more time. I’m glad to be back after a(nother) longer-than-expected hiatus.
I’m not quite sure what the future holds for Danceletter. In the span of 11 months, I became a parent, and I lost a parent — seismic shifts. It’s been hard to slip back into the rhythm of monthly publishing. But I know I like putting together this resource, so for now, I plan to keep sending it out when I can. I’ll be thinking this summer about if/how it needs to evolve, and I welcome your thoughts about what’s working for you or what changes you’d like to see.
Thanks for reading,
Siobhan
A few notes for navigating Dance List:
The events are listed in order of opening date. Where listed as “through” a certain date, the event has already opened.
The list has two main sections: performances (week by week) followed by a roundup of dance-related screenings, talks, and exhibitions. You’ll also find two mini sections at the end: out of town highlight and virtual highlight.
I often add to Dance List as I learn of new events. The latest is below. To submit an addition or a correction, please write to me at danceletter@substack.com. (To keep the workload of this project manageable, I tend not to list student recitals or showcases, as much as I appreciate them!)
* = free or donation-based event
When I have work/news of my own to share, you can find it at the end under p.s.
